It is my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation on behalf of David E. Michael. He is the reason my wife and I have not gone mad in our rather innocent effort to take an old house and have it come close to meeting the needs of a spoiled buyer, while at the same time deal with the dictates of a sometimes irrational Historical Commission.

While David has all the fundamentals of a professional contractor, such as quality workmanship and interest in state of the art products, the execution of the extras is what makes this recommendation so easy.

 •  His workers and sub-contractors are very professional and appear to really enjoy working with him.
 •  He does not delegate or relegate any aspect of the contract; he stays with you and the work.
 •  David listens to what you are saying and not to what he is thinking.

My wife and I enjoy working with David, but much more important, we completely trust him; I do not use that word lightly, and I cannot think of a greater compliment in any type of relationship.

Someone you can enjoy, trust and be confident of his performance is not an easy find. If you ever feel the need for more explanation please feel free to call me.

Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work. -Aristotle

When talking about David Michael, Aristotle’s quote comes to mind immediately. While partaking in any project, communication is key. Dave was with us from the beginning stages of design, through all of the weeknight planning board meetings, and since we were from out-of-town, many long Saturday and Sunday afternoon meetings. His strive for perfection and his willingness to communicate made our building project rewarding and satisfying from start to finish.

Throughout the planning stages, Dave got to know us and our family. He used this knowledge to make our new home fit our family oriented needs. His suggestions were invaluable. Our project was unique in the sense that the original home was to be demolished and the new, larger home, built on the same small footprint. Quite a challenge to say the least. Dave rose to the occasion with his talent, foresight and professionalism. He is definitely a “hands on” builder and was visible to us and to his excellent tradesmen throughout the entire project.

In conclusion, we can only say that David Michael built us a beautiful, well-constructed, maintenance free home. Dave takes the utmost pride in his work and it shows in every detail. He earned our trust from the very beginning and is considered a friend, as well as a builder by our family. We will conclude this recommendation the same way that we began – “Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.”
